Training

The same training principles apply to beginners as to the world’s top athletes. While everyone is unique and different approaches work better for different people, we all share common physiology and can learn from each other and the sports-science literature out there.

Whatever your goals are, the best “training plan” will involve being consistent, staying curious, and paying attention to detail. Listen to your body, adapt and re-evaluate what works and what doesn’t work, and be open to picking up tips and ideas from others.

Some Work All Play - a great selection of writing on all aspects of improving at sport, from experienced running coaches. Check out their training plans as well!

The Trail Running Women podcast - sharing stories from inspiring women who compete, adventure, and do cool things on trails.

Strength Running - Their podcast and training plans focus on injury prevention in endurance running. Consistency and gradual progression are key to staying healthy and enjoying sports for a long time!

EVOQ Cycling Training - Cycling-specific race prep and training programs.

Global Cycling Network - is a great resource for cyclists covering a wide range of topics, from learning basic bike skills and gear maintenance, to getting faster, to preparing for races.

Running Your First Ultra by Krissy Moehl - Yes, this is a book about ultra-distance running. But her advice also applies to sports generally. The book has lots of great tips for spending long days outdoors on your feet, and her approach is straightforward.
